What valve/fitting/tubing should I choose for my cylinder?
Clippard recommends selecting your cylinder first, then choosing accessories based on the cylinder's port size. For example, if you have a 2” bore double-acting cylinder with 1/4” NPT ports, you would want to choose a 4-way valve with at least 1/4" NPT ports to ensure that the flow is not restricted. The same reasoning works for selecting fittings and tubing. To get the maximum force and speed from your cylinder, you do not want to create any restrictions in your system between the cylinder and your supply line.
